For 47 years, our great volunteers have worked to ensure that we don't falter in our mission to continue the legacy of comic opera and the musical theater of the past. This has become a greater challenge today, and to succeed we need your support.
Our upcoming season, our 48th, will be one fraught with uncertainty in the current pandemic. It is likely that we will not have live performances until the spring of 2021, but our mission to revive forgotten works of light opera and early musicals will be followed. The revival of John Philip Sousa's operetta The Bride Elect, postponed from this spring, postponed from this spring, will be sung and recorded, regardless of audience attendance. For this wi will need monetary support. The Harold Haugh Light Opera Vocal Competition is scheduled for March 10, and the recording session of two more Victor Herbert musicals, The Debutante and Oui, Madame, postponed from this summer, will be scheduled once again. It's a slate we look forward to, and we look forward to your support to make it happen.
We hope that you will want to keep the joy of challenging, yet lighthearted musical theater available for new generations. Your donation to the Comic Opera Guild goes a long way, due to the economy of operation we achieve through the combination of professional and amateur talent. It allows us to perform a repertory that other companies cannot, and has produced a large recording archive that is shared with music lovers and libraries throughout the country and internationally.
